Why do I have to register my phone number?

What number you register is important!
Your phone number is like your username, but easier to remember! Just like a username, it will show up when you text or call people who don't already have you in their contacts.
Make sure you register a number that you don't share with other people in case they want to sign up for Pinger too!
By using your number, your friends that have you saved in their contacts will be able to find you on Pinger.
Due to technicalities, you may not use your Textfree number to register your account.

What a pain!
damm i cant get my messages of my real phone they all go to the pinger thing, does any one know how to delete or take off your cell phone number from it?
i don't know. i emailed customer support. hope they get back to me. my found who uses a pinger account can't send me messages on my regular phone now.

How can I take off my REAL phone number?
Is there a way to remove my number? This feature ended up being more inconvenient than convenient for me.
