US and Canadian Textfree and Pinger international texters:
As of July 31, 2012, texts to phone numbers in those countries won't be delivered. However, you will still be able to receive texts from those countries!
What should I do?
Follow these instructions if you'd like to continue texting with your international friends:
- Check below for a list of countries we continue to support with free international texting.
- Send a text from Textfree or Pinger to your friends and test whether it's getting through.
- If your test message didn't go through, their carrier or country is not supported. So have your friends on iOS or Android phones download and install our awesome new Pinger app from the iTunes App Store or Google Play.
Pinger is available all over the world and you can text each other free as much as you want when you both have the app. Call free on iOS too! Free calling is coming to Android soon.
The list below contains the countries (outside of the US and Canada) that we are currently able to offer you free texting to.
We would love to support as many countries as possible, but due to outside considerations, this is a list of who we are able to currently support. This list will be updated as our supported countries are updated.

Pinger is actively working with our SMS partners in order to negotiate lower pricing so we can once again offer you free texting to various international locations.
Unfortunately, as we have mentioned in our article, we do NOT control pricing and therefore cannot "choose" which countries to add or remove from our supported list.

Since how many more months you want to see us begging? You said, you need to know our opinion on relaunching Pinger considering some minimal charges. Then what happened?

Just a suggestion, but have you looked into a model similar to what google does with gmail chat and sms. Basically, they give you 50 credits and each text message uses one credit. When a mobile user replies to your message (thus sending a text using their mobile service and paying for it) google gives you 5 credits back or maxes you back out at 50 credits. This serves to limit the number of texts that a user can send for free unless the mobile user on the other end is replying and paying the service provider for texts. I just thought I would suggest it, in case you have not investigated that type of model yet.

I still rate Pinger a *****. They did provide 5-star services. I think the people in Pinger are working hard to come up with a formula to satisfy all those who are affected due to sudden changes in the international destinations.

They took out England. :( I'm in America, but this application was the only real thing that kept my girlfriend and I in touch at times. Man, I wish they never raised the taxes.

THIS IS SOOOO UNBELIEVABLE!!! WHEN I TRIED SENDING A MESSAGE TO PHILIPPINES, IT WENT THROUGH BUT I NEVER RECEIVE ANYTHING SO that simply means that they took out Philippines!!! :(

I dont see New Zealand on the list, I also tried sending a message to my friend in NZ but still the same, it never says it's not sent or anything. I dont know if he receive or not, probably not!!! :((
I am sooooooo confident with Pinger before, I always recommend my friends to download the Applications on their smart phones but now. DAMN! I will never ever recommend this anymore :((
