How do I change my password?

Note: If you forgot your password and need to reset it, view instructions in the What can I do if I forgot my login credentials? article. This article applies to changing your password via your account Settings. 

If you need to proactively change your password while logged into your TextFree account, you can do so from either:

• Pinger mobile
• TextFree Web

Password Requirements

New passwords must include:

• At least 8 characters.
• At least 1 upper case letter.
• At least 1 special character. (such as !?*&%@)
• At least 1 number.

Note: Passwords cannot contain spaces. If they do, you'll see an "Invalid Password" error message. 

Important: You must create a password that is not considered "common" or is easily guessed. If your password does not meet ALL of the requirements stated above, you will receive an error message and won't be able to update your password until each requirement is met.

 To change your password via Pinger mobile:

1. Pinger app Settings.
2. Tap Account Info.
3. Tap Change Password.
4. Enter your current password.
   • If you forgot your password, tap Forgot Password at the bottom of the screen. 
5. Then enter your new password (twice).
   • Ensure your password meets the requirements seen above
6. Tap Update to save your new password.

Note: If you are unable to save your new password, please confirm there's a checkmark next to EACH of the password requirements. If you see one or more of the requirements in red, this indicates that you have not met those requirements and cannot save until you do so.

To change your password via TextFree Web:

Please note: TexFree Web uses Flash technology and cannot be viewed using mobile devices, but require a laptop or desktop computer.

1. Log into your TextFree Web account.
2. Click the drop-down menu located under your Pinger Number.
3. From the menu, select Account Settings.
4. Under the Security section, enter your current password.
5. Enter the new password you'd like to use.
6. Confirm your new password by entering it again.
   • Ensure your password meets the requirements seen above
7. When complete, click the Update button at the top to save your new password.

Did you forget your password to TextFree Web? 

1. Tap Trouble logging in?
2. A pop-up will display > enter the email address that is associated with your account.
3. Click Send. 
4. A reset link will be sent to the registered email address (if verified).
5. Open the reset password email. 
6. Ensure your NEW password meets the requirements seen above.
7. Select Update to save your new password. 

FYI: If the reset password email is sent to your spam/junk folder, the reset button/link may not be clickable. To remedy this, please mark the email as "not spam" and/or move the email to your inbox. From there, you can click the button to reset your password.
